About

I am Eleanor Barrett, The Cultural Electrician.

I’m a creative strategist, producer and community innovator with more than 25 years’ experience.

My work sits at the intersection of culture, climate, public space and social inclusion.

As founder and Artistic Director of The Brick Box CIC, I led award-winning participatory projects across the UK for over a decade.

Today, through Cultural Electrics, I work independently with councils, universities, landscape architects, funders and community organisations.

Based in Leeds, I work nationally and internationally.

“The most inclusive spaces are sometimes the ones that resist definition.”

Principles

These are the ideas that guide how I work.

  1. Culture is a power, not a product.

  2. Every place has a current.

  3. People are the grid.

  4. Participation redistributes power.

  5. Joy is serious business.
